Rodney Andreasen

Rodney Andreasen is currently the Emergency Management Director for Jackson County, Florida. He joined the United States Air Force (USAF) in 1978 serving 21 years in a variety of assignments in the United States and overseas. He served as a Security Specialist for 11 years in the USAF in both a Law Enforcement and Security Specialist capacity. While assigned as a Security Specialist, he performed duties as a crime prevention specialist, Stinger man-portable anti-aircraft missile team chief, Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) security team chief and NCOIC of a small unit anti-terrorism program. In 1989, he was selected to become a Professional Military Education (PME) instructor. In this capacity he taught and instructed entry and mid-level Non-Commissioned Officers supervisory and leadership skills. In 1997, he was selected for his final assignment to the College for Enlisted Professional Military Education (CEPME) to develop curriculum for entry-level enlisted supervisory personnel. CEPME curriculum was used to train 11,000 personnel annually at 70 bases world-wide in supervisory, leadership and military skills. He retired from active duty in 1999 with the rank of Master Sergeant.

In 1999 he was selected to develop trainers and training programs for the Florida Department of Revenue. In 2001 he was selected for his current position as the Emergency Management Director for Jackson County. In this capacity he is charged with the development of programs and methods for the preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery of personnel and critical infrastructure in the county.

Mr. Andreasen holds an Associates of Applied Science degree in Industrial Security and an Associates of Applied Science degree in Instructional Technology and Military Science from the Community College of the Air Force, a Bachelor of Science degree in Liberal Studies from the University of the State of New York-Regents College, a Master of Science degree in Technical and Occupational Education from the University of Southern Mississippi, a Master of Science degree in Justice and Public Safety from Auburn University- Montgomery and a Master of Arts degree in Security Studies-Homeland Security and Defense from the Naval Post Graduate School. He is certified at the state level as a Florida Professional Emergency Manager (FPEM) with the Florida Emergency Preparedness Association (FEPA) and at the national and international levels as a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) with the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM). He is certified as a Florida Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design Practitioner (FCP) through the Florida Crime Prevention Association. He holds numerous training certifications through the National Domestic Preparedness Consortium to include Incident Response to Terrorist Bombings Train the Trainer and Prevention of Suicide Bombing Incidents Train the Trainer. He is a Multi-Hazards Emergency Planning for Schools Train the Trainer through the Emergency Management Institute and holds a State and Local Anti-Terrorism Trainer (SLATT) certification through the Department of Justice to teach local and state agencies in the field of anti-terrorism. He is a certified CPR/AED/First Aid instructor. He is Bomb Materials Awareness Program (BMAP) Community Liaison as well as a Bomb Materials Awareness Program (BMAP) Administrator and Trainer. He is a trained Protective Detail Specialist providing personal security protection. He is a certified ALICE and CRASE Active Shooter instructor and provides Active Shooter training and consultation to organizations and various programs to prepare personnel to meet active shooter threats.

He is the recipient of the 2005 Mark Trail Award from the National Weather Service, the 2010 Emergency Manager Award from the Governors Hurricane Conference, the 2013 Chad Reed Emergency Management Professional of the Year Award from the Florida Emergency Preparedness Association and the 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Governors Hurricane Conference.CONNECT WITH RODNEY ON LINKEDIN
